Marriage and Family Therapy
Resources: The MFT Club

The Marriage and Family Therapy Club
was formed to function as a clearing house for information and as a resource center for students and alumni of the MFT program. A primary goal of the club is to increase the collaborative network between students, alumni, faculty, and professionals in the field. Shared involvement around important issues in marriage and family therapy provides the basis from which individuals and groups are encouraged to develop mutually beneficial professional networks. These shared interests include legislative issues involving marriage and family therapists, seminars, and workshops offered by influential contributors within the field, publication of articles in professional journals by students, alumni and faculty, development of collaborative field projects and a general exchange of ideas and discussion of topics relevant to marriage and family therapists.

On the 1994 AAMFT Conference:
What an experience! It was such a success for me that I came back 15 feet taller and I was fortunate enough to receive money for registration from the MFT Club. At the conference, I met other students in the field, or related fields, from all around the country and I was able to compare and contrast what we are learning here at Hofstra in relation to other schools. Our program is excellent! We can rest assured that at Hofstra we are given a sturdy theoretical foundation accompanied by extensive client contact hours which prepares us even further for when we go out into the real world. I was boggled by the fact that our educational foundation at Hofstra has catapulted all of of us further ahead than a great deal of professional people that I met at the conference.
