| Facilities |
We maintain three labs for our students:
a mathematics teaching laboratory, equipped with 20 Dell computers;
a scientific computing lab equipped with Dell and Apple computers; and our tutoring lab, which is
open six days a week. All three labs are located in Adams Hall.

We have recently offered courses in
Advanced Calculus, Algebra,
Combinatorics and Graph Theory, Complex Analysis, Computer Graphics,
Differential Equations, Differential Geometry, Dynamical Systems, Engineering Mathematics,
Geometry, Linear Algebra,
Mathematical Problem Solving, Number Theory,
Numerical Analysis, Probability and Statistics, Set Theory, and
Topology, in addition to many lower division courses for majors and
non-majors.

Regularly offered graduate courses include Logic, Topology,
Applied Algebra, Linear Algebra, Analysis, Complex Analysis,
Probability, Statistics, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations,
Numerical Methods, and Optimal Control Theory, as well as seminars on
special topics. |

Our graduates begin successful careers in education,
finance, programming, systems analysis, engineering,
telecommunications, actuarial science, law, and many other fields.
Hofstra students seeking graduate degrees in mathematics have
been accepted to the University of Chicago, the University of California at
Berkeley, Dartmouth College, UCLA, and other highly regarded
programs. |

We host the Al Kalfus Long Island Math Fair. We mentor many high school students for mathematics research projects. |

In addition to the B.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in actuarial science, Hofstra University offers courses approved for Validation by Education Experience (VEE) by the Society of Actuaries in Applied Statistical Methods, Corporate Finance, and Economics. |
