Lectures
Professor Abram is a frequent lecturer
at universities, music groups, and organizations devoted to the humanities.
She was invited to speak at the International Conference on Tension
In Performance in England in 1983 and gave seminars entitled Insight
into Music and The Nature of our Response
to Music as a faculty member of New York University School
of Continuing Education and New College, Hofstra University. Professor
Abram presented several series of talks entitled The Inner
World of Music at universities, museums and cultural centers
and has lectured on topics as diverse as Music and the Sociology
of Art and the Mysteries of Making Music.
Organizations of Piano Teachers have
heard her lectures Through the Magic Doors
(dealing with the first lessons), The Open-Ended
Approach: Integrating Contemporary Materials in Early and Intermediate
Teaching, Comfort at the
Keyboard and other topics. She has also developed course
materials for an in-service course entitled Interest and
Empathy, dealing with the correlation of music and language
arts, social studies and science for elementary school teachers.
Professor Abram has given annual seminars
titled The Art of Piano Teaching presented
by the Ninety Second Street "Y" School of Music and then for
many years by the Hofstra University Division of Continuing Education
and the Department of Music, attracting piano teachers from many parts
of the United States.
Performances
- Professor Abram
has performed at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Kaufman Hall of the 92nd
Street "Y", Merkin Hall, Lincoln Center, the Brooklyn Academy
of Music, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and many
universities throughout the country.

- With the American
Chamber Ensemble, of which Blanche Abram and Naomi
Drucker are co-directors, Abram has given annual series of concerts
at Hofstra University, in Weill Hall of Carnegie Hall, at the National
Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Guild
Hall, Museums Universities, and chamber music series.

Professor Abram has performed
in the Caribbean, broadcast many times over stations WQXR and WNYC
on the "Keyboard Masters", "Music at Midnight"
and other series.
Organizations
Blanche Abram was the founder of
The Community Arts Council of the South Shore and president for the first
five years of its existence. She
initiated the Community Arts Workshops of The Roosevelt Community Relations
Council. She is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda (National Music Honor
Society) and Music Teachers National Association

Honors
1966 Citation for "outstanding
contribution to the work and ideals of the 92nd Street
"Y" School of Music through her dedicated artistry and pedagogy."
Honored by the Music Teachers National
Association in 1988 with the designation "Master Teacher".
Selected by the Town of Hempstead, Richard
Guardino, Jr. Supervisor, to receive the 1998 Pathfinders Award
in the Arts in recognition of her work as a performer, teacher,
lecturer and community arts advocate.
