Hofstra University Observatory

Hofstra University's "Stars on Sundays" series allows participants to use telescopes for star-gazing while learning about the universe from college astronomers.

Stars on Sunday Fall 2008 Schedule

The Moon, Jupiter, Uranus, Nepture, double stars, nebulae and star clusters will be visible on all the Stars on Sunday events. The Moon will not be visible on Halloween this year. We will have an introduction to the night sky before the observations.

The Hofstra Observatory, partially supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation, includes Celestron telescopes and computerized CCD cameras. The Observatory is located on the roof of Herman A. Berliner Hall (Chemistry and Physics Building).

The Observatory is located on the roof of Herman A. Berliner Hall (Chemistry and Physics Building), at the intersection of California Avenue and Huntington Place, two blocks south of Hempstead Turnpike.


The Hofstra Observatory is a facility of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Hofstra University.
