Bio:

Professor Mitchell L. Schare completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the State University of New York - Binghamton in 1985, following an internship at the Brown University Medical School Consortium in Providence, RI. He is currently the Director of the Ph.D. Program in Combined Clinical and School Psychology. Dr. Schare is also the Director of the Caffeine Laboratory, a department facility dedicated to research on caffeine and associated chemical dependencies. He conducts research, teaches Ph.D. students, and administers the Ph.D. program. Since 1987, Dr. Schare, a NYS-licensed psychologist, has maintained a small private practice in western Suffolk County.

Dr. Schare is an active member of the American Psychological Association, Association for the Advancement of Behavior Therapy, Eastern Psychological Association, Society for Behavioral Medicine, New York Academy of Sciences and the Nassau County Psychological Association, having presented many professional papers at meetings of the groups. He has presented his research internationally including conferences in St. Petersburg and Siberia, Russia. Dr. Schare has published articles in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Therapy and Research, Military Medicine, as well as others. His areas of clinical and research expertise include substance abuse disorders (particularly caffeine, cigarette and alcohol dependencies), anxiety disorders (including phobias, stress management and post-traumatic stress disorders), and sexual disorders (dysfunction and paraphilias).
