Bio:

Stavros Valenti, Professor of Psychology at Hofstra University, completed his graduate studies in Developmental Psychology at the University of Connecticut in 1983. He teaches graduate courses on human development and on ethics of professional psychology, and undergraduate courses on children’s development, research methods in psychology, and a research seminar in developmental psychology. His principle research interest is Ecological Psychology, the study of human-environment informational transactions which support perception, cognition, and face-to-face interaction between persons of all ages.

Dr. Valenti’s published work includes experimental studies of children's selective learning and attention, social perception of children and adults, rapport and movement synchrony, and the perception of human movement in still photography. A recent line of research is on self-disclosure in face-to-face conversations, telecommunication, and computer-mediated conversations. His articles have been published in developmental and in experimental psychology journals including Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, Ecological Psychology, Behavioral and Brain Sciences, and Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance.
