RELI 157/RELI 257 This seminar examines the nature and roles of mysticism in the Sikh religion and its relevance to existence in a contemporary global culture. It represents a unique opportunity to explore the teachings of the Sikh Gurus (gurmat) within an academic environment. Building on the great success of last year's seminar, participants will be asked to examine the relationship between spirituality and social ethics. Participants will be encouraged to relate the Sikh textual tradition to their own spiritual understanding. or graduate credits.

• Free Will and Fate
• Sacrifice and Martyrdom
• Politics and Mysticism
• Meditation, Music, and Martial Arts
Special Workshop on Sikh Ethics

Location:
Hofstra is located on Long Island, minutes away from some of the most beautiful beaches in the Northeast. The campus is expansive and includes sports facilities, art galleries, a bird sanctuary and an arboretum. New York City destinations are all readily accessible by train or car.

Registration Information:
This seminar is open to any non-credit, undergraduate, or graduate student. Fees cover seminar tuition and activities, and access to most campus facilities for the week. Please note the seminar dates, as classes and events will be held on the weekend. Housing is available in Hofstra residence halls for the week of the seminar at additional cost. The fees are as follows:
