About the Center

The Challenge

Founded in 2003 by Dr. Denny Taylor, ICEC is an international center that is committed to taking a leadership role in supporting children when catastrophic events take place and to maintaining sustainable assistance in national and local regions where there are on-going emergencies.

ICEC’s main purpose is to:

  • reach a stage of preparedness to provide emergency response and sustainable support for children when catastrophic events occur;
  • formalize the international networks of scholars and organize international forums, humanitarian organization meetings and international teacher training institutes.
  • establish the ICEC as a research, resource and education site; and
  • use technology to create a world-wide cradle of caring for children in crisis.

There are no quick-fix solutions. In a similar way to global warming, change starts with public awareness.

The Establishment of the International Center for Everybody’s Child

ICEC is Hofstra University’s response to children in crisis. Financial support is requested to establish ICEC so that the international partnerships and collaborative initiatives that have been established during the past eight years can be supported and expanded in regions of the world where children are most vulnerable. ICEC is local as well as global and will have a multidisciplinary focus on children & their life sustaining needs.
