Making a Gift to Hofstra Law School

Hofstra University School of Law relies on donations from alumni and friends to enhance the Law School's programs and scholarship opportunities. Below are some of the ways you can participate in the important act of giving back to Hofstra. For more information on giving to Hofstra Law School please call the Office of Alumni Affairs at (516) 463-5306.

Giving Opportunities

Law School Annual Fund

The Law School Annual Fund strives to build annual unrestricted resources to increase scholarships, assist with loan forgiveness and provide much needed funds for a multitude of needs. The Law School depends greatly on these funds from alumni year after year. Please consider a gift to the Annual Fund and start your tradition of giving back to your alma mater now - it is a gift that will not only help the Law School, but will enhance the value of your law degree.

Special Scholarship Funds
Over the years, friends and supporters of Hofstra Law School have helped establish special giving funds to recognize those individuals who have made an impression on their lives and the legal profession. You may earmark your gift to the Law School to be used for any of the following funds:
  • Samuel M. Kaynard Visiting Professorship in Labor and Employment Law
  • Eugene M. Wypyski Memorial Scholarship
  • The Dwight L. Greene Memorial Scholarship
  • The John J. Regan Memorial Scholarship

Ways to Make a Gift

Check or Credit Card
Checks should be made payable to Hofstra Law School and mailed to:

Office of Alumni Affairs
Hofstra Law School
121 Hofstra University
Hempstead, NY 11549

To charge your gift, you will need to include the name of the credit card, the account number and the expiration date.

Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities can be beneficial to the donor as well as to the Law School. No capital gains tax is paid upon the transfer of stock and the donor receives an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift. Stock transfer can be made through a broker; by mail or by hand. Please call the development office at (516) 463-5306 for more information.

Matching Gifts
Some companies and law firms will match the charitable contribution of an employee or spouse, allowing the donor to increase his or her gift. If your employer or spouse's employer has a matching gift program, you can obtain a matching gift form from the human resources department, complete and sign it, and submit the form with your gift.

Planned Giving
A planned gift is a tangible way to endorse the mission of Hofstra University School of Law and to ensure its work for the future. We are grateful to those who have already stepped forward to make such commitments and trust that their leadership will inspire others. Although most people think of planned gifts as involving large sums of money, many are relatively modest in size. All are important, however, and all will have an impact on future programs. For more information on arranging these donations, please contact the development office at (516) 463-5306.
* Please let us know if you have already included Hofstra in your will.
