Judi Bosworth

Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) is serving her third term as Nassau County Legislator representing the 10th Legislative District.

Legislator Bosworth's priorities continue to include being responsive to constituent issues, advocating for the environment and ensuring that residents have access to government services. She serves as the Ranking Member on the Health and Social Services Committee as well as the Veterans and Senior Affairs Committee. As an active legislator, she sought to protect the environment by sponsoring the Green Procurement Law and the Mosquito Spraying Notification Law.  She recently co-sponsored two well-attended hearings with Legislator William Spencer of Suffolk County regarding the Long Island aquifers and preserving the quality of our drinking water. In 2010 Legislator Bosworth proposed a law that would ban smoking in a motor vehicle if there is a child under 18 present, and continues to advocate for this.

Legislator Bosworth is committed to continuing to serve her community and bring constituent services to the 10th Legislative District. During her time in office, she provided free glaucoma screenings and mammograms, and Women's Health Forums with the North Shore-LIJ Katz Institute for Women's Health. She worked cooperatively with the North Shore-LIJ Medical Group to sponsor a very successful health and information fair in October 2012 to provide her constituents with free adult health screenings, flu immunizations and health education and program information.

Having a life-long commitment to the community, Legislator Bosworth is a member of the North Shore-LIJ Spinney Hill Community Partnership, the Board of Directors of the Great Neck-Manhasset Community Child Care Partnership, and the Great Neck Senior Center. She is also a Trustee of the Corporate Advisory Board of the Long Island Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, a member of the Advisory Board of the Foundation of Community Unified Services, Inc. (FOCUS), a member of the Hofstra Bioethics Advisory Council and a member of the Rotary Club of Great Neck and the recently formed Kiwanis Club of Great Neck. In short, she is an active participant in the community she serves.

Legislator Bosworth was a Trustee of the Board of Education of the Great Neck Public Schools for sixteen years, serving as President, Vice-President and Board Liaison to the Great Neck Senior Center. Legislator Bosworth was former Assemblyman Thomas P. DiNapoli's Special Projects Coordinator. In that capacity she was instrumental in bringing governmental and health services directly into the community.

A former New York City Public School elementary teacher, Legislator Bosworth received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Early Childhood Education from City University of New York at Queens College. Judi and her husband, Dr. Jay Bosworth, reside in Great Neck. They have two adult children, Brian, a physician, and Michael, an attorney. Brian and his wife Lauren, an attorney, have two children, Andrew Benjamin and Robin Elizabeth.

Judith Eisen

Judith A. Eisen is a Partner/Director of Garfunkel Wild, P.C. She is a member of the firm's Health Care Practice Group and Finance Group, which advise clients on a variety of business, regulatory, and transactional matters.

Ms. Eisen's practice focuses on the representation of hospitals and other health care providers including nursing homes, home health agencies, durable medical equipment providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and physicians with emphasis on regulatory, transaction, compliance, general corporate, finance, employment, disciplinary, patient care, and other related matters; and other healthcare industry related clients, including healthcare lenders and vendors to the industry.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Eisen worked as a registered nurse in pediatrics and neonatal intensive care, nursing education, nursing administration and risk management.

Ms. Eisen has been an Adjunct Professor of Health Law, Hofstra University Law School and frequently writes and lectures on regulatory issues.

Lynna Iacona

Lynn A. Iacona is an attorney with Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Committee, Inc. in Hempstead, New York, specializing in disability rights, with a focus on special education.  For the past decade, she has represented individuals with a wide range of disabling conditions at Committee on Special Education meetings, in negotiations with school districts and other state agencies, during litigation and at appellate review.

Ms. Iacona’s professional life has been devoted to the public interest, having started her career as an appellate attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.  She has also served as a Senior Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Babylon, and subsequently, as the Deputy Town Attorney for that township.  In that capacity, she represented the Town in all areas of municipal concern, and functioned as counsel for the Town of Babylon Ethics Board and its Sanitation Commission. 

Ms. Iacona is a cum laude graduate of Bucknell University, and received her law degree from the School of Law at Hofstra University.  A member of the Nassau County Bar Association, she resides with her husband and two children in Centerport, New York.

Martha Krisel

Martha Krisel has been representing the County of Nassau since September of 2006. Krisel has provided representation to the County Executive, and serves as Chief Deputy County Attorney for Special Projects for the Office of the Nassau County Attorney. She has obtained New York State accreditation as a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) provider for the Office of the Nassau County Attorney, and has implemented Nassau County housing discrimination amendments. In addition, she coordinates housing and mortgage foreclosure prevention initiatives in Nassau County, designs county-wide training initiatives and provides counsel in land use and all municipal issues. She is also responsible for the recruitment and retention of attorneys and law students and volunteer attorneys and paralegals for the County of Nassau, and coordinates its internship/externship programs. Krisel has served as counsel to the Nassau County's Human Rights and Planning Commissions, and has served as a member of the Nassau County Board of Ethics (2005-2010).

Prior to joining the County Attorney's office, Krisel served as Village Attorney for the Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre from 1996 until 2006. As in-house counsel, she represented the Mayor and Board of Trustees and drafted all Village legislation. She also oversaw all litigation and managed outside counsel. In addition, she trained all employees in the Village discrimination, harassment and retaliation policies, reviewed FOIL applications and ensured Village compliance with state and federal legislation. Prior to serving as Village Attorney, Krisel worked for Seward & Seward, representing the Village, and she also taught at Hofstra Law School from 1989 – 1994. Krisel has also represented indigent children, criminals and the elderly at Legal Aid and Legal Services offices in New York and Massachusetts. A graduate of SUNY Buffalo Law School, Krisel was admitted to practice in 1981.

Krisel has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Bar Association, where she currently serves as Treasurer. She has served as a member of the Nassau County Bar Association's Judiciary Committee. Krisel chaired the Environmental Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association from 2005-2007, and the Municipal Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association from 2003-2005. Krisel is a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Mary Strong

Mary B. Strong, MA, is the Director of Continuing Medical Education at the North Shore-LIJ Health System.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community and School Health Education from the Health Sciences Center, State University of New York at Stony Brook.  Her Master of Arts Degree in Health Administration was earned from Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY.  Mary is currently responsible for the oversight of North Shore-LIJ Health System’s CME program consisting of medical conferencing, regularly scheduled series, and enduring materials that are designed to accomplish the CME mission of North Shore-LIJ. She has worked in the field of Continuing Medical Education since 1999 when she became Assistant Director of CME for North Shore-LIJ’s Department of Professional and Public Health Education.  Mary began her professional career as a health educator with the Long Island Diabetes Association where she was involved in community education initiatives.  As a health educator for North Shore University Hospital, she planned and developed in-service and health education programs for school administrators, health personnel, faculty, parents and students.  Additionally, she was responsible for the organization and implementation of a variety of large scale events, such as health fairs and community wellness programs.  Her years of experience in adult learning, education and program implementation have carried over to her work in continuing medical education.

Lyn Weiss

Lyn D. Weiss MD - Chairman
Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Lyn D. Weiss MD, Chairman of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Department at Nassau University Medical Center, is a 1985 graduate of SUNY Downstate Medical Center School of Medicine and is Board Certified in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.  Dr. Weiss is Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at SUNY Stony Brook and Adjunct Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the American University of the Carribean (AUC) and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She served both her internship and her residency at Nassau University Medical Center and has been Chairman of the Department since 1994.  In addition to her Chairmanship, Dr. Weiss is also the Director of the Residency Training Program, the Director of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the former Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff. 

Dr. Weiss has a strong interest in research, has written many book chapters and articles, and has presented numerous lectures at the national level. Dr. Weiss has had six books published; Neuromuscular Quick Pocket Reference (2012), The Oxford Handbook of PM&R (2010), Easy Injections (2007), Easy EMG (2004), Skin Care Triad (2000), and Cumulative Trauma Disorder (1998). Her seventh book, PM&R Q&A, will be published in 2013. She is a mentor for the medical students at Stony Brook, AUC and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She serves on the Health Policy and Legislation Committee of the American Academy of PM&R and is co-chairman of the Ethics Committee at Nassau University Medical Center.
