Disney College offers two options for college students: paid internships and courses. Before you pursue either of these opportunities, you must first check with your major adviser to make certain that you are making an appropriate academic choice and to be sure that you have room for such electives in your degree plan. You must also check with the Office of Financial Aid to check that there will be no adverse impact to your funding should you enroll in one of these internships or courses.
Disney Internships: If, with the permission of your major adviser, you'd like to receive Hofstra liberal arts credit for a Disney internship, you must first speak in a timely manner with Assistant Dean Rene Giminiani-Caputo in the office for Off-Campus Education (OCE) (x5823). If you're accepted for the internship and your performance is satisfactory, you will receive OCE credit and a grade for the course. If, however, the appropriate department at Hofstra does not approve a Disney internship for liberal arts credit, you will not be able to transfer the credits into Hofstra.
Disney Courses: If, with the permission of your major adviser, you'd like to take a Disney program course for liberal arts credit, you should note that Hofstra does not have a formal agreement with Disney College to have these courses count directly for Hofstra credit. Several schools do have such an agreement (see "Credit Through Other Schools" on the Disney Web site). To receive transfer credit for such courses, you must follow the procedures stipulated in the section entitled "Permission to Attend Other Colleges" in the 2005-06 Hofstra University Undergraduate Bulletin, p. 48. If, however, the appropriate department at Hofstra does not approve a Disney course for liberal arts credit, you will not be able to transfer the credits into Hofstra.
