Auditions and Tryouts

Cheerleading

The Hofstra Cheerleading program is currently comprised of one nationally recognized co-ed squad. The squad promotes school spirit for the University's athletic teams, such as the men's and women's basketball teams. Cheer performances are also requested at university festivals and admission events. See when tryouts will be held.

Dance

While there are no auditions for admission to the Dance Program, we do hold auditions (usually the second Saturday in March) for placement in the technique classes, and to determine Activity Grant awards. Get more information.

Dance Team

The Hofstra University Dance Team is an exciting and competitive collegiate dance team that performs at university athletic events as well as other events held on and off campus. See when tryouts will be held.

Drama

While there are no auditions for admission to the Drama program, we do hold scholarship auditions and portfolio reviews each March (usually the third Saturday of the month) to determine initial offerings of Activity Grants for first year students only. Get more information.

Music

All students wishing to declare a major in Music Performance, Music Merchandising, Music Education, Music Theory/Composition, Jazz and Commercial Music, or Music History/Literature must audition for acceptance into these programs. Get more information.
