For matriculation into the Hofstra North Shore- LIJ School of Medicine, dual degree program students must obtain a total minimum MCAT score of 30, with 9 or better in each section, and must, while in the undergraduate portion of the program, maintain at least a 3.6 overall GPA and 3.6 Science GPA, while satisfying the required pre-medical curriculum, with a high level of professional behavior, without repeating a course and with no grade less than a C.

Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program is a dual degree program designed to provide students with the opportunity to earn both the B.S. and M.S. in five and a half years.

For first-year students, it is possible to proceed directly into the PA Studies Program without applying in the junior year. Admission to this program is open only to first-year students and is highly selective. Applicants must have a combined SAT score of 1230 (or an ACT score of 27) and an overall high school GPA of 3.5 in order to be considered for admission. The Undergraduate Admission Committee will invite applicants who meet the above criteria to submit the supplemental Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program application including essay.  After the admissions committee reviews the supplemental application, selected candidates will be invited to interview with members of the Physician Assistant Studies Program Admission Committee.

Direct admission to the B.S./M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies Program is predicated on students completing all undergraduate work in residence while following the pre-professional PA curriculum, achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.3 in course work toward the B.S., maintaining at least a 3.3 Science GPA and providing documentation of 50-100 hours of health care experience. Students must also meet with a PA Studies Program faculty member once each semester.

Should a student meet all conditions, a seat will be reserved in the class beginning in his/her senior year. Students who do not meet every condition for the first-year direct entry option may apply to the program via the CASPA process. Such students compete for admission to the program with all others applying through CASPA. For further information, visit hofstra.edu/pap, email PAProgram@hofstra.edu, or call the PA Studies Program’s senior assistant at 516-463-4074.

Students admitted to this program pursue a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) at Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for three years and then have the opportunity to complete a Juris Doctor (J.D.) at Hofstra Law School in three additional years. Admission to this program is open only to first-year students and is highly selective. Applicants must have a combined SAT score of 1220 (or an ACT score of 27) and an overall high school GPA of 3.5 (or be in the top 15 percent of their high school graduating class) in order to be considered for admission. Please note: Students who indicate an interest in LEAP and meet the criteria listed above will receive a separate LEAP admission application.

Eligibility for admission to Hofstra Law School is predicated on LE AP students completing the Hofstra Law School J.D.
admission application, including the personal statement.

  • The student will be admitted if he or she otherwise meets the criteria for admission to Hofstra Law School, including earning a total of 95 semester hours (94 of them in liberal arts), meeting all requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree, achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.4 in course work toward the B.A., and achieving an LSAT score in junior year that is no lower than the median LSAT score for the prior year’s entering full-time class at Hofstra Law School.
