Bienvenue, Bienvenidos, Kalos Orisate, Huan Ying, Merhaba, Welcome!
Hofstra University has a long tradition of welcoming international students to our campus. (See what countries are represented at Hofstra.) International students attending Hofstra enjoy all the benefits of the American system of higher education at a selective, private, campus community that values diversity and promotes cross-cultural understanding. Our student body is multinational and participates in a wide range of academic, social and cultural pursuits. We currently enroll international students from more than 65 different countries. Hofstra's commitment to international students is evidenced by the availability of international student organizations, study abroad programs, international events, lectures and special services.
Our international students find it easy to develop a sense of community, school spirit and a feeling of belonging. Located on Long Island, New York, students enjoy easy access to the cultural center of the world - New York City. In addition, they benefit from the wide array of internship opportunities in New York City and take advantage of the museums, Broadway shows, concerts, etc. Hofstra's suburban campus is easily accessible, near two major airports (John F. Kennedy Airport and LaGuardia Airport), along with abundant public transportation.
Hofstra offers special services and resources through our Office of International Students. As a Hofstra University student, you will be a member of a diverse community of students and scholars. We invite you to learn more about the possibilities and opportunities that await you at Hofstra University. In addition to all these attractive features, we believe that ultimately it is the people who make Hofstra a special place to live and study. We hope that you, too, will choose to apply to Hofstra and join our campus community.
To obtain a visa for study in the United States, you must first be admitted to a program of study. You must then provide the university with an I-20 Application (see “Documents”) as well as evidence of how you will pay for your education. (see “Sources of financial support”) If eligible, Hofstra will send you the Form I-20, which allows you to attend an appointment with a US Immigration Official. You must schedule this appointment after you have received the I-20. (see “Obtaining a student visa”) The links below go into further detail on this process. The US State department also maintains a helpful website regarding the student visa process. (click here) http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html

International students are considered for academic merit-based scholarships only. Please note that an SAT or ACT score must be received for scholarship consideration. All students are automatically considered for academic merit scholarships, which are based primarily on your secondary school record and SAT or ACT exam score. Scholarship decisions are included with acceptance packets. At this time, only academic merit-based scholarships are available, however these scholarships can be very generous. Other sources of funding might include independent loans or various international foundations.
