Early Action I Deadline Extended Due to Hurricane Sandy

I hope that you and your family are safe and life is getting back to normal in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Our beautiful campus, which sustained no damage, is now fully functional with all student services open. However, we are well aware of the devastation and destruction that this storm has caused. Our thoughts are with you and your family as you begin to rebuild your lives. It is our hope that you have been spared of the major destruction caused by the storm, that your homes and property are without any significant damage, and most importantly, that you and your loved ones are out of harm’s way.

At Hofstra University, we understand the pressure that comes with the college application process and are well aware that this pressure is growing in the aftermath of Sandy. While college applications are important, your main focus should be ensuring the safety of your family and loved ones and helping to rebuild your home and community. Now, more than ever, we encourage you to reach out to our Office of Undergraduate Admission for any assistance that we can offer.

Hofstra is offering an extended Early Action I deadline for all applicants who were affected by this monstrous storm. The guidelines for this extension are outlined below:

  • Hofstra University’s Early Action I deadline has been extended until Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Hofstra’s admission counselors are here to work with you throughout this trying time. If you are still unable to meet this deadline please call (516)463-6700 and we will be more than happy to help you on an individual basis.
  • We realize that the Saturday, November 3, SAT exam has been postponed until Saturday, November 17. At your earliest convenience please request that College Board send us your current SAT scores as it is unlikely that any November 17 scores will reach our office by the November 21 deadline. Remember, your Hofstra admission counselor will only consider your highest combined scores.
  • Please keep in mind that Hofstra also accepts paper versions of applications and all supplemental materials. If it is more convenient for you or your school to submit paper versions of applications, please mail them to: Office of Undergraduate Admission Hofstra University 100 Hofstra University Hempstead, NY 11549-1000
  • If at any time you want to sit with a member of the admission staff to discuss your individual application please call (516)463-6700 or 1-800-HOFSTRA to schedule an interview.

We will keep you and your family in our thoughts as we all continue the rebuilding process. If there is anything that our family can do to help yours, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at admission[at]hofstra.edu or by phone at 1-800-HOFSTRA.

Sincerely,
Jessica Eads
