HOFSTRA IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT... Our campus is a uniquely designed community. There?s South Campus, where academic buildings and facilities dominate the scene, and North Campus, where students live and enjoy recreational resources. North and South Campus are connected by two pedestrian bridges.
Student Center
In the Student Center are four of our 13 dining facilities, including Sbarro?s Pizzeria and Burlaps Café; the Hofstra Travel Agency; Hair Express, a full-service beauty salon; a Post Office; and the Hofstra University Bookstore. In the evening, students find the Student Center a quiet place to study or catch a movie.
Residence Halls
Hofstra?s 37 residence halls offer a variety of modern living options for our 4,000 resident students. Single, double and triple rooms are available as well as suites, which include two or three bedrooms with a private bath and living room that accommodate four or five roommates. Each room is equipped with a bed, desk, dresser, closet, desk lamp, heat and air conditioning, cable hookup and a telephone with voice mail. Students have full connectivity to Hofstra?s network and the Internet from the residence halls. Each floor has a Resident Assistant (RA), who can answer questions about living on campus and about Hofstra in general.
Hofstra Cultural Center
The Hofstra Cultural Center has solidified its role as a forum for the interdisciplinary exploration of a wide range of topics. Its conferences range from highly specialized inquiries to subjects of general cultural interest, from matters of local and regional concern to issues of international and global significance. The Hofstra Cultural Center operates primarily through the medium of the international scholarly conference, traditionally enriched by exhibitions, performances, concert series and various supplemental events.
Academic Advisement
The Office of Academic Advisement provides guidance to new and prospective Hofstra students, and to all undergraduate students who have not declared majors. The office also offers many services for students with declared majors, including career exploration, study skills assistance, tutorial information, disability-related support, and much more.
Public Safety
Hofstra?s Office of Public Safety runs shuttle buses from the residence halls to classroom buildings as well as to local shopping centers, the Long Island Rail Road Stations in Hempstead and Mineola, and even to Jones Beach in the summer. Public Safety also offers a variety of services, such as retrieving keys from locked vehicles and escorting students to their cars or residence halls after dark. With 24-hour security every day of the week, the Hofstra campus is a comfortable and secure place to live and learn.
