You?ll be surrounded by water. Why not take advantage of it? With miles of gorgeous coastline and beautiful beaches ? Long Island Sound to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south ? water enthusiasts will feel right at home on Long Island. In the summer students can catch a Hofstra shuttle bus to Jones Beach ? a New York state park with six miles of ocean beach, boardwalk, swimming pools, golf and outdoor concerts. Or check out other attractions, like the Hamptons, Fire Island and Montauk Point. Even merit scholars need to get some sun once in a while; here, there are just more ways to have fun at the same time.
You may be on an island, but you certainly won?t be stranded. Hofstra is conveniently located near John F. Kennedy International, La Guardia, Newark International and MacArthur Airports. So whether you?re about to start a backpacking excursion through Europe, or just off to see family and friends for the holidays, you?re never more than a half-hour from an airport.
Take classes here, intern there. Hofstra offers degrees in more than 100 areas of study, from history, fine arts and philosophy, to journalism, marketing and computer science. And when you?re ready for some real-world experience, intern at one (or more) of the hundreds of companies who call New York their home ?
