We will be celebrating our 70th birthday on November 17, 2006. We take great pride in being the oldest Greek organization on campus.
In March, along with UGA/TKE, we co-sponsored an "All Greek Alumni Reunion" at Hofstra USA. We also celebrated awarding our AOB Scholarship. Our annual meeting and dinner, held in May at Orlando's Restaurant in Commack, was a success.
Several sisters attended the Hofstra Alumni Organization's Annual Meeting and afterwards gathered on the North Campus for the rededication of our AOB garden, "Forever Green and White." Special thanks to Fred Soviero, director of grounds, and his staff for a wonderful job planning the revitalization of our garden, which was established 19 years ago. When visiting the campus, stop by the garden to see the beautiful changes!
We hope you will be able to join us at the following events: Homecoming on October 7; 70th Birthday Celebration and Annual Meeting on November 17; Holiday Dinner on January 5; AOB "Through the Years" in February 2007; Greek Alumni Reunion in March 2007; and the Annual Dinner in May 2007.
In addition to our mailings, check our Web site for updated event information. For more information, call or e-mail Judy.
**Attention Greek alumni presidents and representatives: Contact us so we can discuss plans for another Greek Alumni Reunion. **

The past year has been a very successful one. We participated in Homecoming, the NYC Holiday Reception and our signature event, the Deanna L. Hunter/BHAA Scholarship and Alumni Awards Dinner. During Homecoming, BHAA hosted a tent filled with Soul/Caribbean food, and provided giveaways and plenty of fellowship and networking among BHAA members and Hofstra alumni.
After participating in the NYC Alumni Chapter Holiday Party, the celebration continued at a nearby hotel. Our April 22 awards dinner saw more than 100 alumni, family, students and friends dance the night away at the Hofstra University Club. The evening was truly a blessed one as our keynote speaker, Robert J. Corti, chairman of Avon Products Foundation, and our alumni award recipient, Professor Tabari Bomani '87, provided very thought-provoking and encouraging comments.
As we look ahead, we thank those who have committed their time and financial support to BHAA. We want to continue our progress. However, we can only continue to make positive strides with your help and involvement. Please contact us to ascertain how you can become involved. Please start with Homecoming 2007. Look for the BHAA tent.

Booster Alumni friends and family turned out to enjoy our biggest event of the year, the annual Miniature Golf Tournament, held July 23 at Village Green Miniature Golf in Lake Ronkonkoma. Participants enjoyed a morning of golf, raffles, "mini"-refreshments, hole-in-one contests and prizes. Several hole-in-one winners won new cars (miniature, of course!). We would like to thank our hole sponsors and those who donated raffle prizes to make our event a success. A portion of the proceeds raised helped to support our Endowed Spirit Support Scholarship.
As football season approaches, we remind you to renew your membership or consider becoming a member of the Hofstra Booster Alumni. If you would like to become a Booster Alumni member, call Valerie Anderson-Byrne '89, membership chairperson, at (631) 587-3840. Our membership fee is still only $15 for an individual and $25 for family membership. New members are always welcome!

Our first major fund-raising event, the PR Q-8 Invitational Trick Drill Meet, is scheduled for October 15 at Eisenhower Park. Q-8 Alumni and active members are hosting the event, which is anticipated to draw dozens of drill teams from both ROTC and JROTC units on Long Island and the surrounding tri-state area. Our goal is to raise funds for scholarships and the new insurance requirements for the PR fraternity. We are pleased to announce that we have awarded $3,000 in scholarships to six active members of the Pershing Rifles.
The Pershing Rifles active brothers on campus have been doing an outstanding job of strengthening the fraternity as a whole. The actives and alumni joined together to attend the PR National Convention in Washington, D.C., participating in a wreath-laying ceremony and a service at General Pershing's grave at Arlington National Cemetery. Several local alumni joined the group, including AJ Paluska '68, John Gonzales and Vince Scatamacchia '71. The brothers also met with General (Ret.) Colin Powell, an alumnus of A-8, at the National Alumni Dinner.
We have been presented with a flag from LTC Joseph Tombrello '66, which was flown over the U.S. Embassy during his active duty assignment in Iraq.
Q-8 alumni interested in contributing to our scholarship fund, participating in the "Adopt a Rifle" program or becoming dues-paying members, may do so by visiting our Web site, www.prq8alumni.com, which lists current activities, picture galleries and an alumni directory.

So far 2006 proves to be another great year for the Sigma Pi Alumni Association. Founders Day was the best it has ever been with record-breaking attendance. The Seventh Annual Golf Outing at the Timber Point Golf Course was again a tremendous success, and we sincerely thank all golfers and sponsors for their participation and generosity.
Homecoming is just around the corner on October 7 and SPAA will be there. Look for our tailgating tent in the parking lot near Shuart Stadium where there will be plenty of food and good times. Homecoming is a great day for alumni and future alumni, so bring the whole family.
Our 20th anniversary event is being planned for spring 2007. Keep an eye on your mailbox for invitations. You will not want to miss this event, as brothers from every year are coming. Don't worry if you haven't been to an event since you graduated, because you are the guy we want to see the most. This is the ultimate fraternity reunion!
