


A team of students from Hofstra and other colleges, headed by Associate Professor of Anthropology Chris Matthews, began excavating Joseph Lloyd Manor, a historic museum house built in 1767 in Lloyd Harbor, New York, as part of the course “Slavery and Freedom in Early New York.” Late in the month, the team uncovered the stone walls of what they believe were slave quarters.
July 9 to 20 The English Department’s Creative Writing Program and the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Advancement presented the 33rd Annual Summer Writing Workshops. Participants had opportunities to focus on writing poetry, fiction, genre fiction, children’s literature, screen writing or nonfiction.
July 13 to 29 In honor of the 50th anniversary of the publication of The Cat in the Hat, Hofstra Entertainment presented Seussical the Musical at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse.
