Catherine Hunter’s dream upon graduation from Hofstra University in 2000 was to win one Emmy by age 30. She then proceeded to earn back-to-back Emmys for “Outstanding Studio Show – Daily” at ages 25 and 26 for her work as associate director of ESPN’s signature program, SportsCenter. Most recently, she earned her third Emmy at age 29 for “Outstanding Studio Show – Weekly” for ESPN’s College Game Day – Football.
Ms. Hunter joined ESPN in 2000, where she worked as a network integration associate for three years prior to becoming an associate director in 2003. Since January 2008, she has added directing The Hot List on ESPN News to her responsibilities. In addition to her in-studio work, she has served as associate director for remote broadcasts for numerous world-class sporting events across the United States, including the 2006 Players Championship; 2006 Summer X Games; 2007 NCAA Men’s Final Four Championship; 2006, 2007 and 2008 U.S.Open Golf Tournaments; 2008 Rose Bowl; 2008 BCS Championship; and 2008 Kentucky Derby.
Ms. Hunter’s passion is working in live television, and she credits Hofstra University for providing her with the strong television and video production skills that have been the foundation of her career. As an undergraduate, she interned with The New Maury Povich Show, directed HTV’s Live From Studio A and At the Dinner Table, and served as writer, director and co-producer of F.Y.I. – For Your Island.
