Michael J. McCreesh is vice president, Securities Division, for Goldman Sachs Group. He oversees a business designed to provide third-party research services to Goldman Sachs clients. Since joining the firm in 1994, Mr. McCreesh has held a variety of positions, most recently as the COO of the futures business. He earned an undergraduate degree in 1990 and M.B.A. in 1994 from Hofstra University and holds an Advanced Professional Certificate in public accounting from Pace University. He was designated a CFA charterholder in 2000.

Michael McCreesh and his wife, Dana (Hofstra Class of 1991), co-founded TeamBrent in honor of their now 6-year-old son, Brent, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in September 2004 (currently cancer free after 15 months of treatment). TeamBrent was formed to raise awareness and funds to fight all childhood cancers, with a focus on neuroblastoma. Since its inception in March 2005, TeamBrent has raised more than $2.4 million to fight childhood cancers, primarily through two annual fund-raisers – St. Baldrick’s Head Shaving Event in March and the Pan Mass Challenge Bike Ride in August.

Michael and Dana McCreesh received the Edward B. Kochan Award in 2007. This award celebrates the efforts of people who work tirelessly to improve the world around them. Additionally, in 2007 Mr. McCreesh received the Best Life magazine’s Hero Dad Award. His story was featured in the September 2007 issue of Best Life magazine, Westport magazine, the CT Post, the Fairfield Minuteman and the Fairfield Citizen and on Fox News and Today in New York.

In April he was awarded the 2008 National Fatherhood Award from the National Fatherhood Initiative in Washington, D.C. The Fatherhood Awards are presented each year to individuals, corporations, and organizations that make a substantial contribution to the strengthening of involved, responsible, and committed fatherhood in their work or personal lives. Mr. McCreesh is currently co-chair of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation/Banking and Finance Committee.

Michael McCreesh met Dana at Hofstra in May 1989. They currently reside in Southport, CT, with their children, Brent, Madi and Kira. Their story is posted online at TeamBrent.com.
