Gloria Landsman (B.A., M.S.Ed. ’62) of Princeton, NJ, winters with her husband, Fred, in Tucson, Arizona. Her daughter and son live in Tucson, and her grandson attends school there...

Dr. Edwin Schultheis (B.S.) of Bellport, NY, and his wife, Joan (B.S.Ed. ’84), celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a gala event held at the Bellport Country Club. Mayor Frank Trotta of Bellport declared June 23, 2006, as Edwin and Joan Schultheis Day in Bellport and presented them with a plaque to commemorate the event...


1952

Emil Cianciulli, Esq. (B.A.) of Manhasset, NY, received the Hall of Fame Award from the Long Island Business Development Council at its 37th Annual Conference in Montauk, NY. He is a senior partner at the Garden City law firm of Cianciulli, Meng & Panos, P.C., and chair emeritus of the Hofstra University Board of Trustees...Richard Edwards (B.S.) of Woodland Hills, CA, is president of Edwards Consulting Service and is the proposal and program manager for aircraft systems. He is a contributing author to three marketing texts in the Anatomy of a Win trilogy and author of Comical Career Capers (2006)...


1953

Warren Rudolph (B.A.) of Waco, TX, attended the Hofstra women’s basketball game versus Baylor with wife Bette, where he was pleased to meet the staff of the Hofstra University team... Maxwell Sang (B.A.) of Westfield, NJ, recently had her artwork exhibited at Swan Galleries in Plainfield. Her exhibit, “Petals,” displayed her paintings of flowers...


1955

Louis Avino (M.S.Ed.) of Stony Point, NY, turned 80 years old this fall and is still active in the Elks. He coached and officiated sports for 35 years and has 16 grandchildren and a grandnephew, Michael Vaccaro, who is a freshman on the Hofstra lacrosse team...Suzanne Farina (B.A.) of Ridgefield, CT, is retired with a condominium in Bradenton, Florida. Since retiring, she has started painting and exhibits her oil paintings. She has three sons who live in Las Vegas and Florida, and four grandchildren and two step grandchildren...Richard Fricklas (B.A., M.S. ’72) of Centennial, CO, received the 2006 William C. Cullen Award from ASTM International Committee on Roofing and Waterproofing. He also lectures at the University of Wisconsin on roofing technology...

Dr. Arthur Small (B.A.) of Brooklyn, NY, wrote an article that appeared in the March-April 2006 issue of The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry News titled “The Development of a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training Program and Clinical Services in Nepal: A Senior Fulbright Scholar’s Experience”...


1957

Doris Liebman-Appelbaum (B.A., M.S.Ed. ’62) of Glendale, WI, has more than 29 years of resume writing and career counseling experience, and has been published and quoted in numerous newspapers and magazines nationally. She was recently quoted in Civilian Job News and has a monthly column in Wiscom, the bulletin for Mensa of Wisconsin. She also writes the meeting summaries for Focus, a professional women’s group. Her middle son will be married in Phoenix...Jack Foehrenbach (B.A., M.A.’62) of Sayville, NY, was recently recognized by the New York State Assembly in celebration of his 80th birthday and his many years of service to the people and environment of the state of New York. He currently maintains homes with his wife, Kathleen, in both Sayville and Chestertown, Maryland...


1958

Lawrence Martines (B.S.) of Hobe Sound, FL, has written five novels since retiring in 1989 and is working on several others. His crime drama is under contract to be published with Tico Publishing, and the first three chapters of all of his novels are on his Web site, www.wildcardbooks.com. He has acquired a second home in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina, where he spends the summer with his wife...

Peter Johnson (B.A.) of Saranac Lake, NY, recently moved to the Adirondack Mountains and is still active in international metals/management consulting and freelance writing...Lainie Kazan (B.A.) of Beverly Hills, CA, appeared at the Brentwood Theatre in the run of Bermuda Avenue Triangle opposite Joseph Bologna and Renee Taylor. She played Tess, one of a pair of widows in a retirement facility who is caught by the attentions of a same-aged con man. She also starred in the recent TNT movie The Engagement Ring opposite Patricia Heaton...Marion Ann Oppenheimer (B.A.) of La Quinta, CA, has retired and is living in the Coachella Valley in Southern California. She is traveling all over the world with her husband of 44 years...


1961

Troim Katz Handler (B.A., M.S.Ed. ’66) of Monroe Township, NJ, has recently published SIMKHE, a book of love-letter poems entirely in the Yiddish language. It is the third book that Mrs. Handler has written. Her grandson, Alex Sullivan, is currently a Hofstra senior...Betsy Harris (B.S.Ed.) of Port Washington, NY, owns her own realty company, and is a licensed real estate broker. Her daughter Tammy is 26 years old, just graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School and is working as a district attorney...Bonnie Hiller (B.S.Ed.) of Bellmore, NY, reunited with fellow Delta Chi Delta alumnae in Boca Raton, FL, in February 2006...Dr. Stanley Shanies (B.A.) of Roslyn, NY, was recently promoted to adjunct professor of biology at Hofstra University. He teaches an undergraduate biology course, is the medical director of the Hofstra Physician Assistant Studies Program, and teaches cardiology to the PA students. He is also in private practice of cardiology in New Hyde Park and is on the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine...

Ted Kraut (B.B.A.) of Weston, FL, is currently a partner of Corner Creek Distilling Company, which has joined the sales and marketing group of INFINIUM Spirits after nine years as an independent supplier to distributors throughout the United States...Vicky Whitaker (B.A.) of Springfield, IL, has just been elected to the Board of Friends of Sangamon Auditorium, the advisory body to the University of Illinois at Springfield’s 2,500-seat theater/fine arts complex...


1964

Lynn Cardozo (B.S.) of Westbury, NY, has retired after teaching first grade in the Farmingdale school district for 42 years. She is now enjoying being a grandmother...Dr. Robert D’Esposito (B.A.) of Garden City, NY, was elected governor of the American College of Surgeons Brooklyn-Long Island chapter...Don Rubin (B.A.) of Ontario, Canada, is the editor of Routledge’s sixvolume, $3 million World Encyclopedia of Contemporary Theatre series (1994-2000). He is also the former chair of the Department of Theatre at Toronto’s York University, where he continues to teach. He is married to poet and novelist Patricia Keeney, and they have four grown children and two grandchildren... Dr. Michael Poli (B.A.) of Marlboro, NJ, has been a senior lecturer teaching graduate courses at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, for the past 10 years. In May he was awarded the Full-Time Faculty Outstanding Service Award. He also earned a Ph.D. in technology management. In the upcoming year, he plans to continue to grow his program as well as teach in Paris, Beijing, and online...


1965

Dr. Howard Kassinove (M.A.) of Dix Hills, NY, is a professor of psychology at Hofstra. He recently returned from his second trip to Buenos Aires where he was a guest speaker at the Argentinian Association for Mental Health and at Universidad Argentina JFK. He is highly recognized for his scholarly work in the area of anger and aggression, and is director of the Institute for the Study and Treatment of Anger and Aggression at Hofstra’s Saltzman Community Services Center. He recently released a DVD series on anger management techniques with Hofstra graduate and co-author Raymond Chip Tafrate (M.A. ’91, Ph.D. ’95)...

Marjorie Shepard Liner (B.S.Ed.) of Sudbury, MA, is happily living in Massachusetts and would love to hear from any of her Delta Chi Delta sisters living near and far...


1967

Barbara Cohen (B.S.Ed.) of Boca Raton, FL, held an alumni reunion for Boca Raton residents in 2004 along with Audrey Frankel (B.A. ’62) and Ann Hersch (M.A. ’70). In 2005 the event was open to outsiders, and alumni brought guests who were also Hofstra alumni from other locations in south Florida... Dr. Margaret Lehner (B.A.) of Lemont, IL, was awarded the 2006 Master Teacher of the Year Award at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL, and was honored nationally by the University of Texas at Austin National Institute for Staff and Organization Development (NISOD) with the Award for Excellence for this achievement... Hon. David S. Mack (B.B.A.) of Kings Point, NY, Hofstra trustee who is the senior partner of The Mack Company developers, vice chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and a commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, received the Hofstra University 2006 Alumnus of the Year award. This award is given in recognition of exemplary career achievement and/or outstanding service to the University or the Alumni Organization...Stephen Suffet (B.A.) of Sunnyside, NY, is a folk singer who recently released his second CD, I’ve Been Up On the Mountain. Several of the 18 songs included on the album are songs he learned when he was a student at Hofstra...


1968

Steven Richman (B.A.) of New York, NY, released a Grofe/Gershwin Symphonic Jazz Whiteman Orchestra Originals CD in November. It features special guest soloist Al Gallodoro and pianist Lincoln Mayorga. The CD was reviewed in the February 2007 edition of Gramophone Magazine...


1969

Norman Fredriksen (B.A.) of Hauppauge, NY, recently retired after 31 years with Agfa Corp. He will be married 35 years next year, and his wife, Sharon, recently retired after 33 years of teaching...Michael Gaynor (B.A.) of Greenlawn, NY, has been practicing law in New York for more than 30 years. In 2005 he appeared as a guest on Your World With Cavuto (FOX Cable) to promote the eBay boycott that he initiated and on The World Over With Raymond Arroyo (EWTN) to discuss the legal implications of the Terri Schiavo case. He has written numerous articles and letters on political, legal and religious issues for various newspapers such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal...Keith Logan (B.A.) of Downingtown, PA, was recently appointed to the Kutztown University faculty, Department of Criminal Justice, where he teaches courses in criminal law, criminal procedure, and homeland security. He also authored several articles on search warrants and homeland security...Martin Press (B.B.A.) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, has been selected for inclusion in the 2007 edition of Best Lawyers in America, a compilation of top attorneys from across the country. He is currently an attorney at Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A, where he has become a Senate Club member for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC)...Theodore Robinson (B.A.) of Hempstead, NY, was awarded the prestigious Practitioner of the Year award for 2006 by the Nassau County Criminal Courts Bar Association. This award reflects his continued involvement with the defense of a murder case over the last 20 years in which his client was eventually exonerated due to DNA exclusion...Edward Houghton (B.A.) of Long Beach, NY, is planning to move to Stony Brook, Long Island, and hopes to attend Stony Brook University...
