Brenda Milano
MILANO NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN?S BASKETBALL COACH

Hempstead, New York (May 14) ? Hofstra University Head Women?s Basketball Coach Felisha Legette-Jack today announced the appointment of Brenda Milano to the position of Assistant Women?s Basketball Coach.  Milano is the first hiring for Coach Legette-Jack, who became Hofstra?s 10th Head Coach on April 17.  Milano?s hiring is effective on May 20.

?I am very excited that Brenda has decided to join our Hofstra family,? said Legette-Jack, ?she will bring strong administrative skills to our program and her knowledge of the New York area will be a tremendous asset in recruiting.  I look forward to having her on our staff in the coming years.?

Milano joins the Pride after serving as an assistant coach at St. Francis (NY) College since September 1998.  Since June 1999 Milano was the recruiting coordinator at St. Francis, and supervised all team preseason and postseason workouts.  She also oversaw the academic progress and handled all team travel arrangements.  In addition to those duties, Milano was the assistant athletic director for business affairs at St. Francis.  In that capacity she organized and implemented budgets for all 18 of St. Francis? intercollegiate teams.  Milano also was in charge of game scheduling and team travel arrangements for the St. Francis athletic department.  

Milano, who is also the head coach of the New York City Open Division ? Empire State Games team, has served as a graduate assistant at Seton Hall University and Northeastern University.  

In addition to her many basketball coaching duties, Milano has also been an intern for Integrated Sports International, a full-service sports marketing company and for the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).  As an intern with the NIT, Milano assisted in the organization of the International Summer All-Star Tournament, which included setting up team travel arrangements and scheduling the itineraries for teams.

Milano, a 1995 graduate of Wagner College with a degree in marketing, was a two-year captain for the Seahawk basketball team.  She is a member of the 1,000 point club at Wagner and earned All-Northeast Conference second team honors during the 1992-93 season and was named to the first team after both the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons.  Milano also earned a master?s in sports management from Seton Hall University in 1998.
