CULTURAL CLUBS

African Caribbean Society - ACS strives to educate and inform Hofstra students and the surrounding community of the past and present achievements of the African and Caribbean peoples through cultural and social debates, seminars and allied activities.

African Peoples Organization - APO works to inspire a unified atmosphere between African-American people at Hofstra, members of the surrounding community and other students at Hofstra by promoting political, cultural, educational and social consciousness.

Asian-American Organization - AAO's objective is to increase Asian awareness among the students at Hofstra. Past activities sponsored by AAO include parties, fundraisers, sports tournaments and cultural events. The club has formed an Asian network with other colleges, which has enabled it to share ideas and engage in numerous activities.

Cultural Italian-American Organization (CIAO) - The purpose of CIAO is to promote Italian heritage and culture through events, speakers, education and conferences on and off campus. It is designed to bring Italian-Americans, as well as those interested in the Italian culture, closer together.

Hellenic Society - The Hofstra Hellenic Society is a cultural organization that is comprised mainly of students of Hellenic heritage. It encompasses social activities for the enhancement of knowledge of their ethnic background.

Hillel - Hillel is the foundation of the Hofstra Student Jewish Community. Hillel gives students the opportunity to strengthen their Jewish identity by learning about and experiencing Jewish values and traditions. Through cultural, social, religious and educational activities, students are able to experience Judaism in its entirety. Hillel is a wonderful way to meet and socialize with the large community of Jewish students at Hofstra University.

Hofstra Christian Fellowship - Hofstra Christian Fellowship is a club of Christians and other students who are interested in God. The club has a group meeting every Tuesday when they worship and have different activities, such as topical studies, Bible studies and guest speakers. They also have Bible studies during the week for students to learn more about Jesus, and prayer meetings. There are two main goals for Hofstra Christian Fellowship:
to provide group activities to help Christians live their faith and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and to tell and show the hope that exists in Jesus Christ.

Hofstra Haitian Organization - H2O works to enlighten students at Hofstra about Haitian customs and culture. H2O educates students on the history and culture of Haiti.

Hofstra Organization of Latin Americans - HOLA's purpose is to provide cultural, educational, political and social awareness to the Hofstra community about Latin-American heritage. This is carried out through educational and motivational speakers, as well as movies and cultural events, such as Latin dinners, barbecues and parties. This all happens at weekly general meetings where members come together as a family.

Islamic Organization - The Islamic Organization provides its members with an opportunity to practice Islam and to increase their knowledge and awareness regarding the religion.

Karma - The function of Karma is to unite the South Asian People (Indian, Pakistani, Guyanese, West Indian) and to allow them to get to know one another better. Annual events include parties and a cultural/fashion show.

Newman Club - The Newman Club works to serve the spiritual, intellectual and social needs of Hofstra's Catholic students. The Newman Club challenges students on what it means to be an active participant in Christ's church. The Newman Club works to create a spirit of community and solidarity among Christian students.

Organization of International Students - OIS is a club created to help international students at Hofstra. It also tries to achieve an enriched understanding of the multicultural campus environment.

Protestant Community - Protestant Community provides a place for Protestant students to meet socially, and explore issues of spirituality, religion and community in a casual atmosphere. P.C. also provides opportunities for involvement in the University and outreach.

Spanish Club - The Spanish Club involves activities related to the Spanish culture. Members attend plays, participate in food festivals, listen to Spanish music and engage in other activities.

Unity - Unity is a club whose purpose is to become aware of and learn about the differences as well as the vast similarities of various racial and ethnic groups. Members of Unity learn about the negativity of prejudice towards race, ethnicity, physical challenge, social status, religion, gender, illness or disease, and sexual orientation.
