Focke-Achgelis
Fa-330 Rotary Kite developed for deployment on German submarines in
WWII. Designed to be towed into the wind and rise to almost 400 ft
on a tether, and used primarily for reconnaissance. Because the successful
Allies tactics in combating submarines, including the creation
of shipboard radar, the FA-330 saw limited action. |

British Airborne Forces Experimental Establishment (AFEE) Rotachute
designed by Raoul Hafner, O.L.L. Fitzwilliams and Dr. J.A.J. Bennett
of Cierva Autogiro Company Ltd., an individual rotary kite parachute
to insert agents into occupied Europe upon which inspired Igor Bensen
in the development of the Gyrocopter.
