Subprime Markets: Crisis or Opportunity?

The Wilbur F. Breslin Center for Real Estate Studies sponsored a seminar titled Subprime Markets: Crisis or Opportunity? The seminar took place on Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 8:15-11:15 a.m. at the Hofstra University Club, David S. Mack Hall, North Campus. The conference was a collaboration between the Frank G. Zarb School of Business and the Institute of Real Estate at Hofstra University to examine critical economic issues brought about by the collapse of the subprime mortgage market.
The panelists and keynote speakers represented some of the most outstanding members of the financial community. Adam Ashcraft, Ph.D., Research Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of New York delivered the keynote address. A panel discussion followed which included presentations by Peter J. Bianco, Principal, Stairway Capital, Clark L. Maxam, Ph.D., Director of Research, Braddock Financial Corporation, Ehsan Nikbakht, Ph.D., Professor of Finance, Hofstra University and Ch-Chair, Derivatives Committee, New York Society of Security Analysts, David Shapiro, President and CEO, EARN Group and Lori S. Walsh, Ph.D., Financial Economist, Securities and Exchange Commission. The moderator was Andrew Spieler, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Finance, Hofstra University and Co-Chair, Derivatives Committee, New York Society of Security Analysts.
