Land Use Training Program for Municipal Planning and Zoning Officials

The Wilbur F. Breslin Center for Real Estate Studies, in cooperation with Hofstra University School of Law and The Institute of Real Estate at Hofstra University, hosted a FREE Land Use Training Program for Municipal Planning and Zoning Officials titled Zoning for Solar and Wind Installations and an Ethics Update on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Hofstra University Club, David S. Mack Hall, North Campus, from 5:15 to 9:30 p.m. This program provided two CLE credits and two legal ethics credits in professional practice for non-transitional attorneys. The course is intended to fulfill the New York state training requirement for municipal planning and zoning officials. Ashira Ostrow, Assistant Professor of Law at Hofstra University School of Law acted a moderator of a panel discussion. The panelists were: David Calone, Chairman, Suffolk County Planning Commission, John H. Edwards, Islip Town Councilman, Kevin MacLeod, Chairman, Long Island Solar Energy Industries Association and Todd Stebbins, L.I.P.A., Manager of Municipal and School District Programs. Steven G. Leventhal, Esq., C.P.A., a partner at Leventhal and Sliney, LLP delivered a presentation titled Ethics Minefield: Avoiding Missteps in Municipal Planning and Zoning. A question and answer session followed.
