The Wilbur F. Breslin Center for Real Estate Studies in collaboration with Maurice A. School of Law at Hofstra University, Nassau County Planning Commission and the Institute of Real Estate @ Hofstra University hosted a free Land Use Training Program for Municipal Planning and Zoning Officials on September 26, 2011 from 5:15 to 9:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room, Sondra and Davis S. Mack Student Center. The program provided 3.5 CLE credits and l CLE legal ethics credit in professional practice for non-transitional attorneys. The course in intended to fulfill the New York State training requirement for municipal planning and zoning officials. The event started with a PowerPoint presentation by The Honorable Mark Lesko, Supervisor, Town of Brookhaven titled Reinventing Suburbia. An Ethics Update by Steven G. Leventhal, Esq., CPA Partner, Leventhal, Sliney and Mullaney, LLP, Village Attorney, Village of Muttontown followed. A panel discussion, moderated by Associate Professor of Law Ashira Ostrow, Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, was held titled Best Practices for Public Hearings.
