The Center for Civic Engagement

Believing that informed and involved students are more likely to participate in the democratic process, Hofstra University formed The Center for Civic Engagement to encourage students to become active citizens.


The National Center for Suburban Studies

Located on the beautiful campus of Hofstra University in Long Island, New York, the National Center for Suburban Studies was created to increase university involvement with the community and as an institution that we believe is the first of its kind in its mission and scope.


IDEAS Institute

The Institute for the Development of Education in the Advanced Sciences, based within the School of Education and Allied Human Services at Hofstra University, has been assembled to provide a focus on cutting-edge issues in science and technology for the general public, local public and private school teachers and administrators, and college educators.


Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center

The Center supports high-quality educational and practical experiences for Hofstra University students, and provides services to Hofstra University employees and to the community-at-large.


Long Island Studies Institute

The Long Island Studies Institute, a cooperative endeavor of Hofstra University and Nassau County, is a major center for the study of Long Island local and regional history.


Peter S. Kalikow Center for the
Study of the American Presidency

Together with Hofstra's conferences on the American presidency, the Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency and the Peter S. Kalikow Chair in Presidential Studies make Hofstra one of the very few institutions in the country with a unique focus on the presidency.
