Joseph G. Astman International Concert Series

Outside of the THE JOSEPH G. ASTMAN INTERNATIONAL CONCERT SERIES

The Joseph G. Astman International Concert Series was established in 1989 and was appropriately named after the founder of the Hofstra Cultural Center, Dr. Joseph G. Astman. Over the years audiences have been equally thrilled by world-renowned professionals as well as exciting new young artists ready to burst forth upon the classical scene. Since 1989, this very popular and highly revered series has played various locations on the Hofstra campus and has presented more than 500 professional performers.

THE ART OF THE PIANO

Tickets:      $10 general admission, $8 senior citizen (over 65) or PEIR member (must show ID at Box Office), Student under 18 free with ID. One free ticket with current faculty/staff/matriculated student HofstraCard (must present HofstraCard at Box Office).

 

The award-winning pianist Katherine A. Svistoonoff has been sought after throughout Europe, Australia and the Americas to perform as recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician. She will be performing the works of major Russian composers including the New York premiere of works by Vladimir Drozdoff (1182-1960).

Called "the queen of the toy piano" by The New York Times, Margaret Leng Tan has established herself as a major force within the American avant-garde; a highly visible, talented and visionary pianist whose work sidesteps perceived artificial boundaries within the usual concert experience and creates a new level of communication with listeners.

Tickets: $30, $25 senior citizen (over 65), $10 matriculated non-Hofstra student with ID, Child under 12 receives one free ticket with the purchase of one full-priced ticket. $20 Hofstra faculty/staff (two-ticket maximum; must pick up tickets and present current HofstraCard at the Box Office). One free ticket for matriculated student with HofstraCard.
