Hofstra University will be hosting "Harvest Of The Arts and Flowers" the sixth Hofstra University Arboretum Flower & Garden Show September 29-30, 2007. It is the only flower and garden show produced by a university in the metropolitan area, and the largest flower and garden show held on Long Island. Last year, thousands of garden enthusiasts and flower lovers were thrilled to have this fine show right in the center of Long Island. Proceeds benefit the Hofstra Arboretum and the general scholarship fund.
The show will feature a standard flower show by the national award winning Second District Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, Inc. Their 2003 and 2004 shows won first place in the National Garden Clubs Award #30B, A District Standard Flower Show, and their last show won first place in New York state and goes to the nationals once again. Garden club members from all over the metropolitan area will compete for prestigious awards.
This year we are thrilled to have Hofstra Fine Arts students showcase their work throughout the show. There will also be informational booths of various horticultural clubs on Long Island and in the New York metropolitan area, a "greenmarket" featuring local produce and plants, vendors of fine flower and garden-related goods as well as fine craft products and much more.
Held indoors and outdorrs at the David S. Mack Student Center on the North Campus of Hofstra University, free parking is readily available. The Hofstra campus is situated only one-half mile from the Meadowbrook Parkway on Hempstead Turnpike. Tickets may be purchased at the entrance area. Check the home page of the Web site for ticket prices and directions.
