The Hofstra University Museum's new "Global Explorations" program offers learners of all ages the opportunity to discover and explore the diverse cultures that make up global community, through the interaction with and examination of authentic objects from the Museum's vast permanent collection of over 5,000 objects from 6 continents.
For Adult Learners
Adult learners can travel the world through engaging experiences with authentic objects and works of art from 6 continents. Kristy Caratzola, the Museum’s Collection Manager will lead each hour-long session where participants explore a different culture or cultures each month and make personal connections between their own life experiences and the objects presented. Global Explorations will meet on the third Friday each month (excluding December and January.)

For Children and Their Families
For younger community members ages 6 and up and their families, activity-filled backpacks will encourage participants to discover exquisite and authentic cultural objects from the Museum’s permanent collection while enjoying the University campus. Together, families will be engaged in learning about the diverse cultures of the world and about the countries where the works originated, while creating their own fine art interpretations. Backpack components and collection objects will change throughout the year giving families varied experiences year-round. Additionally, family-focused multi-cultural performances and art making workshops will also be offered in the Museum’s galleries during each year.
Backpack activities are free! Pick up backpack materials in Emily Lowe Gallery during Museum open hours. Please click here for Museum hours.
