Lowenfeld Exhibition Hall, 10th floor, Axinn Library
Michael Gordon was a Professor of Fine Arts at New College of Hofstra University from 1973 until his untimely death in 1998. This selected retrospective gives a brief introduction to his work. In addition to being an artist, Michael was a much beloved and respected teacher, scholar and colleague.
Michael frequently produced acrylic paintings, such as 1/13/88, scanned them into the computer, and manipulated the image creating new works like Cityscape: Composite.
Working in a series, Michael explored the formal qualities of painting, such as composition, color, and balance. Examples from his Paradigm Series are featured below.
