Meeting/Conference Facilities

Hofstra University offers all the amenities of a modern conference center complete with a variety of services including audio-visual, food, event planning and management. Our staff is available throughout the year to discuss proposals, plan events and offer assistance on site. The campus is host to over 500 cultural events and 400 athletic events each year.

Hofstra's campus offers the use of over 300 air-conditioned meeting rooms, auditoriums, classrooms, fields, and other multi-purpose facilities for groups of up to 15,000 people.


James M. Shuart Stadium:

Aerial view of Hofstra StadiumThe Stadium recently underwent a $9 million renovation and expansion. The stadium seating capacity is 15,000. There is also a network-quality lighting system for television broadcasts. The James M. Shuart Stadium is now the largest outdoor sports and entertainment complex on Long Island. Visiting team locker rooms and scoreboards have also been updated.


The Hofstra Swim Center:

The Hofstra Swim Center is one of the few indoor Olympic swimming facilities on Long Island and nearby Metropolitan New York. This facility was designed to house many aquatic programs such as instructional, recreational and competitive swimming and diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, scuba, boating fundamentals and scientific aquatic research. The facility was designed with two moveable bulkheads that can be secured at different locations depending on the combination of activities. This unique pool design provides maximum flexibility and versatility.


Student Center Meeting Rooms:

Rooms 141, 142, 143, 145, 219. Classroom-sized meeting rooms, each accommodating a maximum of 50 people. These rooms are located on the first and second floors.

Room 218. A conference room that can accommodate up to 13 people. This room is located on the second floor.

Plaza Rooms (West, Plaza, East). Each room accommodates a maximum of 75 people. Retractable dividers can make one large room accommodating up to 220 people. This room is located on the first floor.

Multipurpose Room. A divider allows the room to be split into two halves. Accommodates a maximum of 450 people. This room is located on the first floor.

Greenhouse. This two-level room provides a bright atmosphere and can accommodate a maximum of 120 people. This room is located on the lower level.


Theaters:

Leo A. Guthart Cultural Center Theater. Medium-sized theater with fixed seating (no desktops), projection and sound systems, a 30 x 17 foot stage and a grand piano. Accommodates up to 150 people.

Monroe Lecture Hall. Large theater/lecture hall with fixed seating (with desktops). There is a 41 x 42 foot stage, sound and theater lights, ticket booth and backstage area.

Student Center Theater. Large theater with fixed seating (with desktops). Contains a full-size movie screen, video projection, sound booth and 34 x 16 foot stage.

John Cranford Adams Playhouse. This theater, which is the largest at Hofstra, has a seating capacity of 1,126 and is equipped with a full orchestra pit, 45 x 35 foot stage, lighting and sound capabilities. Ticket booth and ushers are available for all events. Dressing rooms and greenroom are available to performers on the ground floor. Seating style is fixed/tired theater seating.


Dance Studios:

Calkins/West End Dance Studio. Medium-sized dance studio equipped with pianos, mirrors, ballet barres and hardwood floors.

Dempster Hall Dance Studio. 37 x 56 foot dance floor. Equipped with piano, mirrors, ballet barres, hardwood floors, stereo system, and male and female dressing rooms.


Traditional Classrooms:

Our 238 classrooms accommodating up to 99 people are located in 32 buildings. Dry-erase boards and projector screens are available in each classroom. Video projection and microphones are located in the front of most classrooms seating over 50 persons at the instructor's desk, as well as a television and VCR equipment. Some buildings, such as C.V. Starr Hall, have more extensive offerings of advanced multimedia tools and Internet access at each desk.


Athletic Facilities:

Nine athletic fields and eight tennis courts. See Interactive Campus Map for locations.

Physical Fitness Center. This 40,000 square-foot, air-conditioned facility has a maximum capacity of 2,859 for meetings, sports competitions, clinics and parties.

Hofstra Swim Center. Adjacent to the Physical Fitness Center is the Olympic-sized swimming pool with diving area. Bleachers for seating and locker rooms are available.

Hofstra University Arena. This 93,000 square-foot, air-conditioned facility has fixed chair seating for 5,124 and includes men's and women's locker rooms, training room, dressing rooms for stage events, six luxury boxes and many more amenities.


Axinn Library:

The 10th Floor of the Library. A spectacular view of Long Island and the Manhattan skyline and galleries of the Hofstra museum. Accommodates up to 180 people.

Scott Skodnek Business Development Center: Rooms 227, 246. Carpeted meeting rooms with capacities ranging from 20 to 180 people.
