Copyright issues surrounding file-sharing and the downloading of music and other digital media are popular topics of discussion in the news and at Universities nationwide.
Hofstra maintains a zero-tolerance policy for illegal downloading. A student found downloading files illegally will be sanctioned as follows:
- First offense: Student will be banned from Hofstra's network for one week
- Second offense: Student will be banned from Hofstra's network for one month.
- Third offense: Student will be banned from Hofstra's network for the remainder of
his or her time at Hofstra.
In all cases, the student's computer will be subject to removal of the offending files. |
