Informal Discussion Sessions
Informal discussions are sponsored on a regular basis. These discussions encourage ongoing interaction and exploration among faculty members on issues related to teaching, learning, and scholarship. Among other things, topics have dealt with:
- philosophical underpinnings of pedagogy
- bias related concerns
- nontraditional teaching techniques
- study groups
- encouraging class participation
- grading and testing concerns
- course and teacher ratings
- team teaching
- technology and instruction
- faculty concerns in the '90s
- classroom discipline
- the impact of the changing student body on teaching
- classroom atmosphere
In addition, several campus series (e.g., Enduring Questions Series, Great Books Series) were initially launched under the sponsorship of the CTSE.
