The Faculty Center For Professional Excellence is dedicated to supporting various faculty endeavors including teaching, curriculum design, scholarship and technology use. A feature of this web page is Teaching and Research Forum, where advice on research and teaching can be exchanged between faculty.
There is general research support available to faculty by the university libraries. The libraries have gathered and organized resources and procedures to support the research process of faculty. This page boasts descriptions of services and resources directly related to research activity, and links to these items.
The university has a general research support program known as the Office for Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development, and is divided accordingly into two areas: Teaching Excellence Programs and Research Development. The Teaching Excellence Programs offers faculty workshops, provides material to improve teaching, and more. The Research Development segment focuses on aiding faculty with their research and creative production through internal monetary assistance.
Each year the university awards scholarships to various faculty members during a special celebration. The scholarship is to reward publications, or other creative projects of the faculty during the previous year.
Faculty research support is offered through the Mann library of the university. Information seminars about new resources to support research and teaching are offered to faculty. Orientation and consultation seminars are also made available to new faculty.
The Faculty Research Program (FRP) supports research in any field represented on the campus. The FRP further serves in the evaluation of proposals and decision making process.
Although not a university (DTIC is affiliated with the Defense Information Systems Agency of the United States Government), the DTIC has tailored programs to support the research of general universities. Hopefully this will be of some use. According to the Home page of the website: "The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) is the central facility for the collection and dissemination of scientific and technical information for the Department of Defense (DoD). Much of this information is made available by DTIC in the form of technical reports about completed research, and research summaries of ongoing research, and research summaries of ongoing research."
The Office of Research has two distinctive sets of services; internal and external. Internally they accommodate the needs of researchers in the University while simultaneously encouraging new interdisciplinary research endeavors. External services of the Office of Research involves relationship building with outside research communities in government, business and other science and technology constituencies.
There are a variety of programs revolving around the support of faculty. On this page general programs that are described will be of interest. They include: the Center for Teaching and Curriculum (CTC), Theory Practice Learning at Emory University, and the Governor's Teaching Fellows (GTF) Program. There are several other programs also explained on the page; however they are for specified fields.
The FSU has created the Council on Research and Creativity (CRC), a committee of faculty members of diverse academic disciplines. Their basic role is administering programs to support research development and recognizing creative endeavors among faculty.
Internal research support is offered through the university to faculty of various disciplines through different generalized programs supported by the university.
Although there were many references to topics such as Professional Development and a Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning there were no available links to these specific programs. There was a link for "Faculty Senate" where contact information was available.
Workshops, fellowships, and a series of lectures are offered to faculty for the sole purpose of furthering professional development and advancement.
This link provides links to a variety of resources available to assist faculty including: a Crosstalk Forum, Electronic Teaching Toolkit, Faculty Liaisons (IS) Faculty Resources, Instructional Computing Resources, Teaching and Learning Laboratory, and Textbook Adoption (The Coop).
There is a program for professional development in areas such as scholarly assignments off-campus, consulting, participation in professional affiliations, travel, mini-grants for teaching innovations, and tuition waiver. This university has a Research Foundation in existence to "to promote the educational objectives of Old Dominion University by encouraging, advancing, fostering, and conducting research in engineering, the physical and life sciences, the humanities, education, and all other branches of learning."

This link is a detailed description of a wide range of programs. The most relevant program is Research or Study Leave under subtitle "D." Research or Study Leaves allow faculty members to engage in professional development activities.
The university has an Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) that supplies research leadership, information, and services to encourage faculty to begin research undertakings.
The website provides a description of four types of awards available to faculty in support of research. They include Semester Research Awards, enabling faculty to engage in full time research for one semester; Summer Research Awards, Research Support Awards and Distinguished Faculty Research Fellowship Awards.
