Dr. Daisy Miller is an assistant professor of writing studies and composition. Before coming to Hofstra in 2005, she was a civilian professor at the United States Military Academy. Her teaching and research interests include students’ professional identity and metacognition, nostalgia and writing, introducing students to writing in the university and the rhetoric of apostasy. She enjoys teaching within the First Year Connections (FYC) program, particularly with the cluster “Democracy in America.”
Teaching InterestsWriting across the curriculum. Students situated identity within their writing. How writing assists students in the sciences. Introducing students to the writings and field of Writing Studies.
Research InterestsUnderstanding the professional investment students might have in their writing. Rhetorical interruptions in established narrative formulations. Writing in the sciences.
