Dr. Mills' research interests lie primarily within the area of positive organizational behavior, or POB. Some of her most recent work has involved constructs such as engagement, psychological capital, and eudaimonic & hedonic well-beings. In a related research stream, Dr. Mills investigates how positive organizational work-family initiatives and degree of support may affect employee engagement and attitudes. Finally, Dr. Mills is interested in exploring the intricacies of measurement instruments and issues for the abovementioned constructs, given that effective measurement is crucial to all subsequent research involving such constructs.
Prior to coming to Hofstra, Dr. Mills had taught a variety of introductory and I/O psychology courses in both online and traditional formats. At Hofstra. Dr. Mills teaches primarily within the Masters and Ph.D. programs in I/O Psychology, but also teaches Industrial Psychology at the undergraduate level. She would encourage all undergraduate students interested in this exciting field to take this course for either traditional or honors-level credit.
Dr. Mills thoroughly enjoys working with students, and is the faculty advisor for the PAOP (Ph.D. in Applied Organizational Psychology) student group. She is also enthusiastic about involving students (both graduate and undergraduate) in her research, in addition to talking with undergraduates interested in pursing graduate school.
