Dr. Binbasioglu holds a B.S. and an M.B.A. in management from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, and an M.Phil. and a Ph.D. in management information systems from New York University's Stern School of Business.
Dr. Binbasioglu's current research interests include artificial intelligence approaches to business decision support, model management, group and negotiation support, office automation and financial applications. Several of her articles have been published in the International Journal of Decision Support Systems, Information Systems, European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of Computer Information Systems, International Transactions in Operational Research, International Journal of Intelligent Systems in Accounting, Finance and Management, Issues in Information Systems and the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money. Other scholarly work has appeared in Expert Systems and Artificial Intelligence in Decision Support Systems. She has written numerous papers that have been published as proceedings of the meetings of the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, the Florida Artificial Intelligence Symposium, the International Society for Decision Support Systems, Americas Conference on Information Systems, the Decision Sciences Institute and the Northeast Decision Sciences Institute.
Dr. Binbasioglu was awarded the 1997-98 Hofstra University Stessin Prize for Outstanding Scholarship. Her pioneering work in the area of model management has been cited frequently in prestigious academic journals. She has presented numerous papers at academic conventions and served as a panelist, invited speaker, discussant, program committee member, track co-chair and session chair. She has also served as reviewer for academic journals.
Before joining the faculty of Hofstra, Dr. Binbasioglu taught at Purdue, Syracuse and Middle East Technical Universities. She was also a visiting scholar at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in Ulm, Germany.
Dr. Binbasioglu is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the Association for Computing Machinery and the Association for Information Systems.
