Bio:

Shannan Ricoy is the clinical coordinator for Hofstra University's Program in Physician Assistant Studies. She is continuously pursuing the acquisition of various clinical placements to ensure our students the best possible clinical year experience. Ms. Ricoy is actively involved in a multitude of Program related committee's and activities. She graduated from the New York Institute of Technology in 2003 with her Bachelor's in Physician Assistant Studies and from the University of Arizona in 2009 with a Master's in Advanced Physician Assistant Studies with a concentration in education and leadership. Ms. Ricoy is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Physician Assistant Education Association and the New York State Society of Physician Assistant's in which she is co-chairing this year's annual conference in Tarrytown, New York and a active member of their education committee. Ms. Ricoy is passionate about practicing clinically from a broad based, patient –centered approach in the areas of family and internal medicine. Her enthusiasm for case based learning is exemplified in the clinical case based course, correlative medicine, where she teaches students to work through complex clinical scenarios. Recently, Ms Ricoy co-authored a grant for 'Partners in Health Education for People with Disabilities,' and has research interests in Hypertension and Hyperlipidemia in a primary-care setting.
