Bio:

Dr. Slavin earned a B.S. in accounting from Brooklyn College. He is a graduate of Bernard M. Baruch College of The City University of New York where he received two M.B.A.s, one in taxation and the other in accounting. He holds a Ph.D. in accounting from the City University of New York, and he is licensed by New York State as a certified public accountant.

Dr. Slavin gained his business experience with Deloitte & Touche. He has served as a consultant for corporations listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Dr. Slavin has held the position of financial vice-president for the Solomon Schechter Day School of Nassau County and High School of Long Island.

Dr. Slavin has had articles published in Accounting Review, the CPA Journal and National Public Accountant. Dr. Slavin is the senior author of a two-volume CPA Review text Financial Accounting and Reporting for Business Enterprises, published by Kaplan Education Center, 2000. He is the author of Cost Accounting (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 1986).

Dr. Slavin has had articles published in Accounting Review, the CPA Journal and National Public Accountant. Dr. Slavin is the senior author of a two-volume CPA Review text Financial Accounting and Reporting for Business Enterprises, published by Kaplan Education Center, 2000. He is the author of Cost Accounting (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 1986). Dr Slavin has recently co-authored several articles in the CPA Journal. They include ÿAcademic Dishonesty: A Crisis on Campusÿ with Jacqueline Burke and Ralph Polimeni (May 2007), ÿThe Need for Disclosure in In-Process R&D in Business Acquisitionsÿ with Abu Ryan Khan (August 2006), ÿThe Two-Class Method for EPS: Theory and Rule Interpretationÿ with Steven Petra (July 2005), and ÿRevenue Recognition for Software Products with Multiple Deliverablesÿ with Steven Petra (April 2005).

Dr. Slavin received an award from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for work completed on his dissertation and was an American Accounting Association Doctoral Consortium Fellow. Dr. Slavin is a recipient of the 1980-81 Faculty Service Award for Meritorious Service on the School of Business Executive Committee. In 1988 Coopers & Lybrand awarded a special grant to Dr. Slavin for implementing various materials into the auditing curriculum. He is a member of the American Accounting Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
