Bio:

Paul J. Meller is associate professor in the Psy.D. program in School-Community psychology program at Hofstra University. He received his B.A. degree (1982) in psychology from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, his M.A. degree (1984) in developmental psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and his Ph.D. degree (1988) in school psychology from Syracuse University. He has worked as a school psychologist or consulting psychologist in numerous school districts, head-start programs, and community mental health centers.

Dr. Meller's principal research activities have involved the prevention of school adjustment difficulties and the promotion of school competence in young children who are at high risk. He has authored numerous papers in the area of prevention and social competence, as well as on authentic assessment, social validity of interventions, and cross-cultural consultation.

Dr. Meller has been active in numerous professional organizations, including the New York Association of School Psychologists, the National Association of School Psychologists, and the Division of School Psychology of the American Psychological Association.
