Dr. Sarah Carroll is an Assistant Professor of Psychology with primary responsibilities in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology graduate programs. She received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Calgary, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Prior to coming to Hofstra in 2006, Dr. Carroll was an instructor in the School of Business Administration at the University of Vermont.
Dr. Carroll teaches courses at the undergraduate (Organizational Psychology, Statistics), Master’s (Organizational Psychology), and Ph.D. (Psychometric Theory) levels. Her research interests are primarily in the area of job applicant dishonesty. In particular, Dr. Carroll studies methods for detecting job applicant dishonesty and has recently begun to examine the relationship between dishonesty in the job application process and other forms of dishonest behavior, such as workplace theft. Other research interests include counterproductive workplace behavior, emotional intelligence, and various other areas relating to employee selection.
Dr. Carroll has presented her research at a number of national and international conferences, including the annual meetings of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, The Academy of Management, The Canadian Psychological Association, and The International Association for Conflict Management. Her research has been published in journals such as Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Performance, European Journal of Personality, and Personality and Individual Differences.
