Bio:

Dr. Tafti holds a D.B.A. in information systems with a minor in international business from George Washington University. He received an M.S. in economics and business administration from Pahlavi University.

Before coming to Hofstra, Dr. Tafti taught computer information systems courses at Bentley College and the Graduate School of Management at St. John Fisher College. Formerly he held administrative positions as accounting director and business manager in domestic and foreign organizations.

Professional organizations in which Dr. Tafti has served as a member/officer include the Association for Computing Machinery, the Decision Sciences Institute, the International Association of Knowledge Engineers, the Information Resources Management Association and the International Association for Computer Information Systems. For three years he chaired the Data Processing Management Association's Graduate CIS Curriculum Committee.

Dr. Tafti's research includes topics on customer relationship management (CRM) systems, knowledge-based systems, group decision support systems, strategic information systems, software development practices and user satisfaction with information systems. His research on user satisfaction and strategic information systems is supported through grants by the Center for Scholarly Research and Academic Excellence at Hofstra University.

Dr. Tafti's articles have been published in Data Base, Information & Management, Managerial Finance, The Review of Business Studies, the Journal of Systems Management, the Journal of End-User Computing, Information Management and Computer Security, and The Journal of Computer Information Systems. He has served on the editorial board of The Mid-Atlantic Journal of Business, the Journal of End-User Computing, the Journal of Computer Information Systems and Information Resources Management Journal. He is also the author or co-author of numerous refereed articles in international, national and regional proceedings of professional associations.
