Bio:

Dr. Tinkelman joined Hofstra in September 2007, after teaching for 11 years at Pace University in New York City, where he achieved the rank of professor. He has had extensive business and professional experience as well. He is a certified public accountant. He worked as an auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co. for eight years (1978-1986) and as a financial executive for WPP Group for four years (1986-1990) before deciding to obtain a doctorate and begin a career in academia.

Dr. Tinkelman has primarily taught courses in financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and auditing. His research interests are in the fields of accounting for nonprofit organizations, legal liability of auditors, and financial statement disclosure. He has published numerous articles in both academic and practitioner-oriented journals, and made presentations at numerous academic conferences.

Dr. Tinkelman has also served as a forensic accounting consultant to attorneys on a variety of types of litigation.
