Kathleen Wallace
Professor of Philosophy
Ph.D., State University of New York at Stony Brook

Areas of specialization are metaphysics, Hume, American philosophy, feminism, and ethics.

Publications include "Hume on Regulating Belief and Moral Sentiment" (Hume Studies 28, no. 1, 2002, 83-111); "Autonomous 'I' of an Intersectional Self" (Journal of Speculative Philosophy, 17, 3, 2003, 176-91; "Educating for Autonomy: Identity and Intersectional Selves" (in Education for a Democratic Society, eds. John Ryder and Gert Rudiger-Wegmarshaus, Rodopi Press, 2006); "Moral Reform, Moral Disagreement and Abortion" Metaphilosophy (forthcoming); "Morality and the Capacity for Symbolic Cognition," in Moral Psychology, (collection in progress, edited by Walter Sinnott-Armstrong).

Current work is on autonomy, identity and responsibility. Dr. Wallace has been chairperson of the Department of Philosophy, co-director of Women's Studies, and is currently a Fellow of the Center for Teaching and Scholarly Excellence.
