Dr. Warner chaired the Accounting, Taxation, and Business Law Department from September 1995 until August 2007, when he retired.
Dr. Warner received his Ph.D. in Accounting and Computer Applications and Information Systems and an M.B.A. in accounting from the Graduate School of Business Administration, New York University. He also received J.D. and LL.M. (taxation) degrees from the New York University School of Law. He is a CPA, a member of the New York and Federal Bars, and holds a Certificate in Data Processing.
Prior to joining Hofstra's faculty, Professor Warner taught at Pace University, Pleasantville, New York, and Bernard M. Baruch College of The City University of New York.
Dr. Warner was also active in public accounting, holding various positions, the most recent as the National Director of Auditing Standards at BDO United States.
Dr. Warner has authored numerous articles, which have appeared in The CPA journal and Management Accounting and has co-authored Chasin's Handbook for Auditors, the Handbook of Budgeting, third edition, the Kaplan Audit Manual, Statement on Auditing Standards #70, and Auditing in Common Computer Environments..
Dr. Warner was the editor of "The CPA & the Computer" column for The CPA journal and is a member of its editorial board.
He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Computer Audit Committee of the Auditing Standards Board and a member of the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants' Auditing Standards and Procedures Committee.
