Bio:
Dr. Estelle Weinstein, Special Professor, Department of Health Professions and Kinesiology at Hofstra University. During her years of service to the university Dr. Weinstein has had program and course development, implementation and teaching responsibilities in several graduate programs including health education, health administration, community health, counseling and marriage and family therapy.
Over the course of her teaching career she has received several awards including: Hofstra University’s Graduate and Evening Students Faculty of the Year; Hofstra University’s Stessin Prize for Outstanding Faculty Scholarship; AAHPERD, EDA Outstanding Professional of the Year; and NYSFPHED’s Distinguished Service Award for a Professional.
Dr. Weinstein’s administrative experiences include past Chairperson of the then Department of Health Studies, Sport Sciences and Physical Education and past Chairperson of the then, newly formed Department of Health Professions and Family Studies. Over the course of her tenure at the University, she also served as Program Director of both graduate programs in health education and health administration.

Dr. Weinstein’s research interests span the disciplines of human sexuality, health education, health administration, and sexual issues in family therapy. In addition to a considerable record of published journal articles and professional presentations at the national, regional and local levels, she has co-authored several textbooks and chapters in edited texts.
Dr. Weinstein’s other professionally related activities include 25 years of practice as a New York State Licensed Family Therapists and an AASECT certified sex therapist. Most important to her are the various voluntary activities in the local health services community and public schools that have afforded her the opportunity to work with the under-served and keep abreast of the healthcare needs of local populations. Some examples of public service that are dearest to her are her counseling work with several first responders to the 9/11 crisis; her participation with the local Planned Parenthood and Nassau County Government in program development and training that addresses the problems of unintended adolescent pregnancy; and the unmet pre-natal and peri-natal care for low income women.
