Bio:

Jason Melms (Ballet) began his training with the Tidewater Ballet Association and the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. In 1991 he moved to New York City to study at the Joffrey Ballet School, where he was selected to perform with its touring company, Joffrey II. Shortly after, Mr. Melms accepted a principal dancer position with the Eglevsky Ballet. He has also performed with Ballet Theatre Pennsylvania, The Virginia Ballet Theatre, Virginia Opera and the New York Baroque Dance Company. In 2000, Mr. Melms accepted the position as Artistic Director for the Harrisburg Dance Conservatory, and during his directorship was a chair member for the Regional Dance America's northeast festivals. His choreography was featured in the 2001 festival and received with much acclaim. Mr. Melms has taught on faculty for the USDAN Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, Eglevsky Ballet and the Peridance Center in New York City. He joined the Hofstra dance faculty in 2010.
